Toronto, Canada is a beautiful city that is full of history, charm, and adventure. Toronto has a typical Canadian climate that provides you with both the option of a winter wonderland or a moderate lazy day summer. There are 3 islands which include Center Island, Ward Island, and Algonquin Island. All of the 3 islands are connected which means that you will not have to be concerned about getting off and on a variety of ferry boats. This will allow you to fully experience the entire area.
Each island will provide you with a unique experience. For example, Center island has the majority of activities. A visit to Center island will allow you to enjoy the Centreville Amusement Park which has a petting zoo, boating lagoon, and 30 awesome rides. There are also areas for renting sporting equipment, relaxing on the beach, or relishing a delightful afternoon picnic.
Algonquin and Ward Islands, on the other hand, are more low-key. These islands have a variety of beautiful English gardens and 1920’s style cottages. Next to the Billy Bishop Toronto city airport, located at the northeastern tip of the island, is Hanlan’s Point. This interesting destination has a lighthouse that many believe to be haunted plus a beach where clothing is optional. The majority of the islands are car free which allows them to be the perfect venue for a peaceful bike ride, stroll, or picnic.
Local residents and visitors remark about the islands many beautiful attractions and how they are a great location to escape from the big-city atmosphere that is found in Toronto. Even though the wintertime will bring lots of snow and cold biting winds, these islands are a wonderful winter destination for ice-skating and cross-country skiing.
There is no cost to enter into the islands but you will have to pay a moderate fee for the ferry ride. The ferry ride will cost you approximately $7.00 for adults and $3.50 for children. You will find the ferry to the Toronto Islands located in Queens Quay. Queens Quay is part of the Harborfront neighborhood that is located next to Union Station in downtown Toronto.
